The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if the PREVAIL model of care is a feasible way to integrate rehabilitation into routine rheumatology care for adults with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The model of care consists of three essential components: a screening tool (Daily Activity and Participation Screen (DAPS)), a recommendation to the rheumatology clinician regarding rehabilitation referral and exercise, and an online exercise resource tailored for adults with RA. Participants will complete baseline assessments before their scheduled routine visit with a rheumatology clinician, attend their visit, receive their exercise and/or rehabilitation recommendation, and complete...
Genicular Artery Embolization for Reducing Pain in Symptomatic Knee Osteoarthritis: A Double-Blind, Pilot Randomized Sham-Controlled Study (SHAM-PAIN) is a NIH-NIAMS funded project designed to assess enrollment feasibility and detect any differences between GAE and a similar sham intervention in reducing KOA-related pain at 3 months as measured by the Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) pain subscore. Additionally, this study aims to determine the magnitude of difference in pain response between GAE and sham to adequately power a larger, more definitive randomized sham-controlled trial (RCT). The influence of psychosocial and psychocognitive factors, changes in...
The purpose of this study is to determine the most efficient and safest dexamethasone dose given perioperatively during total knee arthroplasty that reduces postoperative option consumption and pain, improves postoperative nausea and vomiting, and minimizes postoperative complications
This study will examine whether using bone marrow aspirate (BMA) during knee arthroscopy surgery can improve patient outcomes. The investigators will enroll 50 patients who need knee arthroscopy surgery for meniscus injuries or cartilage damage. Like flipping a coin, patients will be randomly assigned to one of two groups of 25 patients each. One group will receive standard arthroscopic surgery plus an injection of bone marrow aspirate, while the other group will receive standard surgery plus a saline (salt water) injection. During surgery, for patients in the treatment group, approximately 4mL (less than one teaspoon) of bone marrow will be taken from their hip bone using a...
The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of lidocaine infusion on intraoperative neuromonitoring in patients undergoing spine surgery.
In vivo knee kinematics will be assessed for 20 subjects that have been implanted with either a MicroPort Medial Pivot or DePuy Attune posterior cruciate retaining (PCR) total knee arthroplasty (TKA) by Dr. Russell Nevins of Nevada Orthopedic & Spine Center [this is the location from which participants will be recruited].
Patients presenting with prosthetic joint infections of a total knee replacement who are treated with an antibiotic spacer will be observed prospectively for their response to treatment and antibiotic elution profiles will be measured post-operatively utilizing mass spectrometry from synovial fluid acquired as part of standard of care in the management of prosthetic joint infection. Secondary outcomes including post-operative complications, re-operation rates, and re-admission rates will also be compared.
To collect information about implant performance and patient clinical outcomes in patients undergoing primary total knee arthroplasty with the LinkSymphoKnee total knee replacement system with ultra-congruent tibial bearing surface.
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the incidence and severity of post-operative shoulder pain following elective robot-assisted hiatal hernia repair in hopes of reducing pain and associated costs as well as clinic and emergency department visits due to this pain. You will undergo standard robot-assisted hiatal hernia repair with the standard postoperative care. The only difference is that you may be selected for the group where lower pressures used to fill your abdomen with carbon dioxide will be used, and you will be asked to fill out logs regarding your pain postoperatively. You will have postoperative appointments that are standard following this procedure.
The study team is conducting a study to see if Magnesium-L-Threonate (MgT) can help improve how well participants sleep and reduce pain after total joint replacement surgery
