Background: Kohlmeier-Degos (K-D) is a rare disease that leads to the blockage of small blood vessels in many organs; these can include the skin, eyes, stomach, lungs, heart, and the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system, or CNS). This study will use a between-person design. Participants will be treatment-seeking patients with chronic masticatory muscle pain. Participants who are eligible for the study and consent to participate will be randomly assigned to receive a brief behavioral intervention for chronic orofacial pain called Physical Self-Regulation or a control intervention. Patients presenting with prosthetic joint infections of a total knee replacement who are treated with an antibiotic spacer will be observed prospectively for their response to treatment and antibiotic elution profiles will be measured post-operatively utilizing mass spectrometry from synovial fluid acquired as part of standard of care in the management of prosthetic joint infection. Secondary outcomes including post-operative complications, re-operation rates, and re-admission rates will also be compared.

Chronic pain is a major complaint among many individuals living with hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and may have a severe impact on quality of life and activities of daily living. Given the complexity of the disease's pathophysiology, effective treatments are limited. This investigation will examine the impacts of green light exposure on subject-reported pain severity and symptoms. Knowing whether this intervention can improve pain and quality of life in this population may offer valuable guidance to clinicians who treat hEDS patients and to hEDS patients themselves.
