The purpose of this research is to learn more about treating Symptomatic Knee Osteoarthritis (OA) with an ultrasound-guided hypertonic dextrose injection. Researchers would like to determine best practice for injection frequency and effectiveness of the dextrose injection for symptomatic knee OA.
This is a single-center, prospective, randomized, single-blind, comparator therapy, parallel group study for symptomatic patients diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis. The aim is to demonstrate superior efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as compared to hyaluronic acid (HA) in treating knee osteoarthritis. This aim will be objectively measured by endpoint consisting of changes in cartilage thickness from baseline in the MRI. The Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) Questionnaire will be used to calculate The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) total score. It will measure changes in...
Researchers are trying to determine the safety and feasibility of autologous, adipose derived stromal vascular fraction injections in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis
This study is designed to evaluate the clinical utility of a known intraoperative neuromonitoring modality (SSEP) using saphenous nerve as the site of stimulation to identify changes to the lumbar nerves which may be at risk during the lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF) procedure.
The purpose of this study is to compare two different antibiotic regimens and techniques during total ankle arthroplasty (TAA). Primary Objective: Comparable levels of vancomycin will be found in bone, soft tissue, and systemic samples between patient groups. Secondary Objective: Compare 30 day and 90 day post-operative complication rates (infection) between the control (standard IV administration of vancomycin) vs the interventional group (intraosseous administration of vancomycin). The investigators hypothesize that there will be no difference in complication (infection) rates between groups.
In this study, total knee replacement patients will be determined to be stiff or non-stiff preoperatively. Stiffness designation is determined by preoperative range of motion (if flexion is < 100 degrees, or extension lag is > 10 degrees). The stiff and non-stiff groups will both be randomized to two groups to receive either intravenous hydrocortisone or a placebo at 3 intervals postoperatively. Patients will be followed up with in hospital and via the phone on postoperative day (POD) 1 and 2, as well as 6 weeks, 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years postoperatively. Patients will also have blood drawn preoperatively in the OR, on POD1, at...
The purpose of this study is to investigate the link between the lungs and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Additionally, to understand why RA patients get lung disease, how to treat, and prevent the disease.
This research assesses the effects that Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) has on Intra-articular administered Plasma-Rich Platelet (PRP) injections for Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA) treatment through evaluations of synovial and serum inflammatory and reparative biomarkers. A comparison of Physical Therapy (PT) vs PT + PRP vs PT + PBMT vs PT + PRP + PBMT for KOA treatment is made. The relationship between self-reported pain and functionality and treatment mechanisms is analyzed along with an analysis of the intersectionality between participant self-reported pain and functionality and medicine markers across treatment groups....
FDA Cleared interbody product for the cervical spine, designed to match a patients DEXA scan for increase in fusion rate.
The goal of this pilot study is to assess the feasibility of conducting a randomized controlled trial at a single institution comparing erector spinae plane blockade (ESPB) with liposomal bupivacaine (LB, Exparel) to intravenous (IV) methadone for managing pain in pediatric subjects undergoing adolescent and juvenile idiopathic scoliosis correction. Specifically, the goal is to enroll 15 subjects in each group and to complete data collection for all subjects. If this pilot study is successful, we plan to then design a larger scale study powered to compare specific outcomes between the two groups.
