The main objectives of this study are to confirm the long-term safety, performance, and clinical benefits of the G7 Acetabular Shells when used with the Vivacit-E and Longevity HXLPE liners and instrumentation in primary and revision total hip arthroplasty.
This multicenter, prospective, interventional trial is designed to assess the outcome of subjects with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis (OA) that are randomized to treatment with either genicular artery embolization (GAE) using Embosphere Microspheres or steroid injection over a period of 24 months.
Previous motion analysis studies have demonstrated excellent ability to distinguish subtle differences in gait between normal subjects and those suffering from arthritis. With proper techniques and analysis differences between osteoarthritis patient groups can be distinguished. Previous research has indicated that subjects who received a single-radius design total knee replacement have superior gait performance that those who received a multi-radius design total knee replacement. The DJO Global Empowr PS Knee System is a single-radius lateral pivot design. This design should achieve reproducible more natural knee function and...
The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of real-time gait biofeedback delivered over a 6-week period on early markers of FastOA and conduct 6-week and 6-month follow-up assessments in anterior cruciate ligament reconstructed patients.
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic musculoskeletal pain disorder with unknown causes. Our previous studies showed abnormal sensations of second pain (wind-up), indicating central hypersensitivity as an important mechanism of FM. Triggering events have been implicated as the cause of central hypersensitivity.
The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effects of oxytocin (naturally occurring hormone) given by an intramuscular (IM; into the muscle) injection, has on your parasympathetic nervous system. The parasympathetic nervous system is the part of the involuntary nervous system that is sometimes called the "rest and digest" system; the parasympathetic system conserves energy as it slightly slows the heart rate, increases intestinal and gland activity, and relaxes sphincter muscles in the gastrointestinal tract.
This is a study of participants that will receive an intravenous (IV) infusion of oxytocin (naturally occurring hormone that is made in the brain). In this study healthy volunteers and people with knee arthritis so severe that they may need joint replacement are recruited for a one day study. Each study participant will have an IV catheter placed. After placement of the IV catheter oxytocin will be given by IV infusion. Investigators will perform some tests to evaluate how oxytocin changes perceptions on the skin. Investigators will study a painful perception by placing a probe on the skin and heating it to 113 -117 degrees...
The purpose of this study is to identify genes associated with impaired development and function of the cranial nerves and brainstem, which may result in misalignment of the eyes (strabismus) and related conditions.
The objective of this investigation is to evaluate the safety of the geniculate artery embolization (GAE) procedure with HydroPearl® Microspheres in 30 patients with knee pain caused by osteoarthritis with 24 months follow-up. The GAE procedure is an arterial embolization procedure that blocks abnormal blood vessels caused be knee arthritis in order to evaluate the effect on knee pain.
The purpose of this clinical trial is to determine whether genicular artery embolization (GAE) is an effective way to treat knee pain from osteoarthritis. Pain from arthritis is often due to underlying inflammation in the joint. The inflammation is associated with increased abnormal blood flow going to the specific area of pain. If the investigator can reduce the blood flow, the inflammation can be reduced and the pain can be controlled. The GAE procedure is an experimental procedure to decrease the blood flow (embolize) to the specific region of the knee that is causing the pain. This will be done by infusing microscopic spheres...
