Scoliosis is a complex 3-dimensional deformity of the spine. It may occur at any time throughout growth and development and is typically detected through x-ray imaging. Although effective at visualizing a curve, x-ray imaging is costly and may expose children to potentially harmful ionizing radiation. This is a 30 patient study to evaluate the reliability of ultrasound, an imaging technique without radiation, to effectively measure scoliosis deformities compared to the gold-standard of x-ray.
The goal of this observational study is to develop and validate a biomarker for lumbar myofascial pain (MP) based on ultrasound obtained measurements of the lumbar muscles and fascia. The investigators will use advanced machine learning approaches and validation in a randomized controlled trial. Osteoarthritis (OA) represents a significant cause of disability worldwide and the knee is the most commonly affected joint. Oxytocin (OT) is a mediator of endogenous analgesia in animal and human studies. This proposal will test the efficacy and safety of self-administered intranasal OT over 4-weeks in older individuals relative to placebo (P) evaluating its effects on pain and function in aging and testing potential underlying neurobiological mechanisms.
The objective of the study is to explore the effects of arm exercise (UE, arm ergometer) vs. leg exercise (LE, cycling ergometer) on exercise-induced hypoalgesia (EIH), central pain mechanisms and knee pain in people with knee osteoarthritis (OA). Furthermore, we will explore relations of socioeconomic status, racial discrimination, acculturative stress, and autonomic function to exercise effects on EIH, central pain mechanisms, and knee pain. This will be a pilot randomized cross-over study where all participants undergo Day 1 (baseline assessments), Day 2 (UE or LE), and Day 3 (UE or LE).

The purpose the research is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of injection of adipose allograft matrix (AAM) to the small joints of the hand for treatment of early stage osteoarthritis. The hypothesis is that use of AAM injected directly into the joint will show improvements in pain and disability while providing a safe, off-the-shelf alternative which can obviate the need for, and risks associated with, current treatment options with autologous fat transfer. The primary objective of this study is to assess the overall safety and general tolerability of extended release triamcinolone acetate (TA-ER/FX006) in patient with rotator cuff disease. The study will enroll 65 patients, aged 40-75 years old, in a longitudinal case series level IV study using extended release triamcinolone to treat shoulder pain from rotator cuff disease. Inclusion criteria will be shoulder pain without a history of trauma and physical exam consistent with rotator cuff tendinitis, impingement syndrome or rotator cuff tear.
