The goal of this pilot randomized clinical trial is to look into the efficacy of concentrated bone marrow aspirate (cBMA) in improving post traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) symptoms in patients undergoing revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery. The main questions it aims to answer are whether clinical outcomes, such as pain, are improved in patients who get cBMA with surgery, if there is a change in circulating markers of inflammation and what part of the cellular and molecular composition of cBMA may explain its effects.
Typically, specific demographic subsets tend to exhibit greater engagement in medical research. Nonetheless, there is insufficient research elucidating the trial characteristics influencing the participation of these particular demographics. The study will analyze data from diverse demographic viewpoints to uncover recurring trends that could provide valuable insights for future patients with scleroderma.
In this study the investigators plan to enroll three groups of patients: non-Sjogren's dry eye, Sjogren's dry eye and controls. The study has the following primary goals: 1. To determine whether dry eye is associated with reduced corneal sensation 2. To determine whether reduced corneal sensation is due to the severity of the dry eye, the type of dry eye (primarily aqueous deficient versus primarily evaporative) or entirely related to the presence of Sjogren's 3. To determine whether corneal sensation is associated with ocular or systemic pain symptoms Additionally, the study aims to compare the novel...
The study seeks to delve into the firsthand experiences of patients diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome who partake in a separate clinical trial featuring a specific medical intervention. The primary emphasis will be on meticulously tracking the rates of trial completion and withdrawal among these individuals. The data collected from this study will help improve future outcomes for all chronic fatigue syndrome patients as well as those in under-represented demographic groups.
The purpose of this study is to compare the functional outcomes of patients with shoulder pathology treated with either ketorolac or corticosteroid injections, in a randomized double-blinded study. Investigators will compare the effectiveness of ketorolac compared to corticosteroid. Specific Aim 1: Hypothesis 1: Injection of the shoulder (in the subacromial space) with Ketorolac will be more effective than corticosteroid injection for the treatment of a variety of shoulder pathologies. The risks associated with this study primarily concern adverse reactions to the study drugs. The drugs used in this study are not...
The purpose of this proposal is to understand how the Vibrant Health Ultimate whole-body vibration (WBV) machine affects pain and inflammation in older adults. The investigators' hypothesize that sub-acute (12 weeks) WBV will lead to improvement in the level of knee pain and improve vascular function via a decrease in systemic inflammation.
Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is a systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) medication that has been very effective in reducing lupus disease activity and keeping patients stable with reduced symptoms. Despite a track record of safety with regard to infection compared to traditional immunosuppressive agents, the risk of HCQ retinal toxicity escalates with continued use. Evaluation using sensitive standard of care approaches suggests nearly a third of patients accrue retinal damage. Data are needed to accurately weigh the balance between accumulating ocular exposure of HCQ versus the risk of disease flare in a population that may have more ...
Transauricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) is a newer delivery system, using a non-invasive stimulation device placed at the ear's concha. TaVNS is a portable, safe, and low-cost intervention, and according to some studies, taVNS may influence nociception and pain perception, which can lead to potential applications for various painful illnesses, including fibromyalgia (FM). This trial aims to investigate the clinical effects of taVNS on pain control in FM subjects.
Investigators have previously shown that specific colors of light can alter nociception. Green light emitting diode exposure (GLED) provides long-lasting antinociception in rodents, through the visual system. No adverse effects were noted, and motor performance was not impaired. Investigator clinical trials have shown GLED is also effective in decreasing pain intensity of fibromyalgia patients and decreasing the number of headache-days per month in migraine patients. However, investigators do not yet understand the mechanisms by which GLED reduces pain. Understanding the mechanisms of action of GLED will provide additional support...
The aim of the study is to determine the efficacy of an Amniotic Fluid Tissue Product for pain relief and functional improvements for all types of musculoskeletal conditions. The study is prospective, with outcome measures being obtained at numerous time points after the regenerative procedure.
